Baja Trip Gear List

For those of you familiar with exploring the SouthWest USA, treat your trip to Baja as you would any desert, although you’ll be packing more gear for the ocean/beaches. I do not provide equipment for surfing, kayaking, hiking, photography etc, if you opt to participate in those activities you must bring your equipment. Here is a brief list of recommended items.

  • sunscreen

  • swimwear

  • sandals/water/river shoes

  • synthetic hiking pants & shorts

  • synthetic long sleeve, synthetic tshirts

  • hat

  • hiking shoes

  • wool socks

  • hiking poles

  • small hiking backpack

  • windbreaker jacket

  • lightweight fleece jacket

  • lightweight down/synthetic jacket

  • First Aid kit (especially tweezers, medicine for food poisoning/stomach issues, Benadryl, etc)

  • Emergency GPS

  • snorkel, mask, and fins

  • headlamp & lantern

  • towel

  • sleeping bag

  • binoculars/spotting scope, and camera

Self Supported Truck Campers

Treat your Baja journey as any other self supported trip regarding the “essentials” you typically travel with (coffee, portable toilet, tow strap, recovery board etc). I will list a few important items that I feel are very crucial for Baja California Travel.

  • Mini shovel

  • Tow strap

  • Recovery Boards

  • Tire deflator

  • Jack

  • Heavy Duty/High Capacity air compressor for E-rated /large tires

  • PRE-TRIP INSPECTION BY YOURSELF OR A REPUTABLE MECHANIC AS OUR VEHICLES WILL BE OUR LIFELINE ON THE TRIP (There are good mechanics in Baja, however a mechanical issue will affect the itinerary of our trip)

  • Extra fuses

  • Full size spare

  • 5 gal Jerry gas can

  • Gloves

  • Basic tool bag for your truck and camper (tools, electrical connections, JB weld stick, etc)

  • Baja California Map

  • Walkie talkies
